Moving forward, with the past.

Merci, Harpers Arabia.

On Saturday 12th March 2011, selected guests gathered for an exclusive ladies luncheon celebrating Atelier Mayer's arrival in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Out with the new, and in...with the old.

In association with www.theoverdressed.com, the stunning event was set in open atrium, where "pop up" vintage corners were created for Chanel, Hermes, Pucci and Yves Saint Laurent amongst other vintage treasures like Pierre Cardin, Lanvin and Edwardian bijoux.

No. Words.

Pucci, baby.

Edwardian and art deco vintage jewellery.

Cocktails of pomegranate and limejuice cooled what was a steaming (and gorgeous) fashion crowd heatedly debating their next vintage acquisitions.

 Gorgeous. And mine (wicked smile).

Lunch took place on a tropical garden terrace with palm tree vista, juxtaposed with Parisian jazz. At the beautiful table setting, organic dill rice, freshly grilled vegetables and traditional lamb stew was served.

Let's eat.

Finishing off with delicious rosewater, date macaroons by Alexandra M, homemade mini cheesecakes and crème brulee with pistachio Ishtha. Diet, officially, out the window.

Rafael Lopes for Atelier-Mayer vintage brocade and gold dress, strapless 1970s blue velvet Bouchette dress, mesh gold and black vintage dress and white 1970s Azzaro dress, amongst a selection of extraordinary vintage clothing.

Onto the music and classical violinist, Theresa Finzi, granddaughter of famed British composer Raphael Finzi, enchanted the vintage inspired atmosphere with Haydn, Mozart and Vivaldi.

Meanwhile, global twitter feeds went mad with absentees trying to snatch up vintage treasures online. And who can blame them?

Happy shoppers didn’t leave empty handed either. Fabulous goodie bags included Camilla Morton’s newly launched book (hot off the press), a selection of exclusive The Overdressed postcards, a special ATELIER-MAYER lipgloss inspired by Klimt - containing 24 carat gold leaf - and a delicious array of typical Austrian Salzburger Mozart chocolates. Yum.
