It's a monumental day for the world.
The momentum however, is both happy and terribly sad for Nelson Mandela, who's great grand-daughter was killed in a car accident yesterday.
Due to the tragedy, Mandela, African legend and a fundamental figure in South Africa's winning of this year's world cup, will not be attending the opening ceremony.
